Tattoos are a form of body art and here are a list of Malayalis who have chosen to wear their art on their sleeve

“My body is my journal, and my tattoos are my story,” is what Johnny Depp said and a lot of people seem to agree to this, especially in Kerala. It is quite rare to see someone who hasn’t been inked. There’s more to a tattoo than a simple design. It’s always something that’s close to their heart, something that means a lot to them. FWD has compiled a list of Malayali celebrities who flaunt their tattoos with a lot of pride.

Pearle Maaney

Pearle’s first tattoo was done by international tattoo artist Hannah Pixie on her recent visit to Kerala. The expression on her face was initially of fear but once she saw her tattoo come to life, the fear changed into a beautiful smile. Pearle’s tattoo is a Unalome, which is a visual representation of having attained enlightenment.

Priyamani

Priyanka Chopra’s tattoo that reads ‘Daddy’s li’l girl’ is quite famous since it was a dedication to her late father. Incidentally, Priyamani got a tattoo somewhat similar to that, which reads ‘Daddy’s girl’. It comes as no surprise there, since we all know that all girl children are their daddy’s pets.

Nayanthara

Quite the controversy back then, Nayanthara got herself inked. If rumours are to be believed, the tattoo on her forearm is the name of her ex-boyfriend Prabhu Deva. A mix of English and Tamil, the tattoo is small and simple.

Amala Paul

While on a trip to Rishikesh, Amala Paul got her first tattoo. A simple dreamcatcher, the tattoo symbolises freedom, peace and her love for life. The tattoo, above her right ankle, is a representation of her gypsy soul.

Mamta MohandasFWD Life Th(INK)ing out loud Malayali celebrities who flaunt their tattoos with pride (11)

Embracing her spiritual side, Mamta Mohandas flaunts a Lord Ganesha tattoo on her left shoulder with ‘Om Shree Ganeshaya Namaha’ written in Hindi. The actor had a tough battle with illness and came back to the industry with a bang.

Lena

Lena has a couple of tattoos, one of which she got done by a friend based out of Kovalam, while it was completed by an Italian friend. She’s got one tattoo on her back and the other on her left shoulder. Lena also adds that though she got those tattoos, she has no intention of flaunting them, as they are very close to her heart and is a personal affair.

Poornima IndrajithFWD Life new Th(INK)ing out loud Malayali celebrities who flaunt their tattoos with pride (2)

Poornima Indrajith is the definition of a successful career woman. She knows how to handle work and family like a pro. Poornima sports a tattoo of Lord Ganesha on her shoulder. The supermom owns a boutique, Praanah, in the city.

Rima Kallingal

Known for speaking her mind out, Rima is not one to shy away from truly expressing her feelings. Her tattoo which reads ‘ we are the granddaughters of the witches you didn’t burn’ runs along her shoulder to her elbow. She says women who choose their own path are called rebels and labeled witches, and if she’s labeled a witch for choosing her own path, then so be it.

Soubin Shahir

Many people might wonder what actor Soubin Shahir’s tattoo means. Aesthetically, the tattoo looks like four arrows pointing downwards, but it is actually a Chevron Viking symbol.

Vikram

Vikram just had to be on the list because he is a Malalayi first, and an actor second. His tattoo is a simple tribal design of the sun which forms a band around his biceps.

5 Sustainable Interior Design Trends to Embrace in 2024

Published

on

As the world becomes increasingly aware of the importance of sustainability, it’s no surprise that eco-friendly practices are making their way into the realm of interior design. In 2024, we can expect to see a surge in sustainable interior design trends that not only enhance the beauty of our living spaces but also minimise our environmental footprint. From repurposed materials to energy-efficient solutions, here are five sustainable interior design trends to embrace this year.

Upcycled Furniture:

One of the most prominent sustainable interior design trends of 2024 is the use of upcycled furniture. Instead of buying new pieces, consider giving old furniture a new lease on life by refurbishing or repurposing them. From reclaimed wood tables to refurbished chairs, upcycled furniture adds character and charm to your space while reducing waste and conserving resources.

Biophilic Design:

Biophilic design, which emphasizes a connection to nature, continues to gain popularity in 2024. Integrating natural elements such as plants, natural light, and organic materials into your interior design not only enhances aesthetics but also promotes well-being and sustainability. Consider incorporating living walls, indoor gardens, and sustainable wood finishes to bring the outdoors inside and create a healthier living environment.

Energy-Efficient Lighting:

With a growing focus on energy conservation, energy-efficient lighting solutions are becoming a staple in sustainable interior design. LED lights, in particular, consume significantly less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and last much longer, reducing both energy consumption and maintenance costs. Additionally, consider incorporating natural light sources such as skylights and large windows to maximize daylight and minimize the need for artificial lighting during the day.

Sustainable Textiles:

When it comes to upholstery and soft furnishings, opting for sustainable textiles is key to reducing environmental impact. Look for fabrics made from organic or recycled materials, such as organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, or recycled polyester. These materials not only reduce the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides but also minimize waste and support eco-friendly production practices. Additionally, consider investing in durable, high-quality textiles that stand the test of time, reducing the need for frequent replacements.

Smart Home Technology:

In 2024, smart home technology continues to evolve, offering innovative solutions for sustainable living. From smart thermostats that optimize energy usage to home automation systems that control lighting and appliances, these technologies can help reduce energy consumption and increase efficiency in your home. Additionally, smart home devices such as occupancy sensors and smart meters provide valuable insights into your energy usage, empowering you to make informed decisions about resource management and conservation.

As we strive to create more sustainable living environments, embracing these five interior design trends can help reduce our environmental impact while creating beautiful and functional spaces. Whether you’re upcycling old furniture, incorporating natural elements, or investing in energy-efficient technologies, every sustainable choice contributes to a greener future for generations to come. So let’s embrace these trends and make sustainability a cornerstone of our interior design practices in 2024 and beyond.
