It was on this day 17 years ago that the Indian Army recaptured all the Indian posts in Kargil that had been occupied by Pakistan’s army. Since then, July 26 has been observed annually to commemorate the sacrifices made by soldiers in this war. The Army declared the mission successful on July 26, 1999; since then the day has been celebrated annually as Vijay Diwas.

Kurukshetra is a 2008 Indian Malayalam war film written and directed by Major Ravi. It is a sequel to the 2006 film Keerthichakra and the second installment in the Major Mahadevan film series, with Mohanlal reprising his role as Colonel Mahadevan The film is based on the Kargil conflict of 1999 between India and Pakistan. The political situation of the conflict is portrayed from an Indian perspective

LOC Kargil

LOC Kargil is 2003 Indian war film based on the Kargil War fought between India and Pakistan, produced and directed by J. P. Dutta under his J.P. Films Banner. Featuring a large number of Bollywood stars and music composed by Anu Malik, the film recorded as Average at the box-office. Upon release LOC received a mixed response critically and commercially. With a running time of 255 minutes, it is one of the longest Indian films ever made and fifth in terms of running time.

Lakshya

Lakshya is a 2004 Indian war drama film, directed by Farhan Akhtar and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, starring Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead roles. Hrithik Roshan plays the role of Lieutenant (later acting Captain) Karan Shergill, who develops from an aimless young man into an army officer. It is a coming-of-age story set against a fictionalized backdrop of the 1999 Kargil War.

Tango Charlie

Tango Charlie is a 2005 Indian Hindi war film written and directed by Mani Shankar. The film stars Ajay Devgan, Bobby Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Tanisha, Nandana Sen and Sudesh Berry. The film follows paramilitary man Tarun Chauhan (Bobby Deol) journey from young police recruit to war-hardened fighter in the Indian border security force. The film presents the idea that real soldiers are not born, but bred.
